ATENVELDT COLLEGE OF HERALDS 30 October 2015, A.S. L
Letter of Intent Kingdom of Atenveldt

Unto Andrewe Laurel; Lillia Pelican; Brunissende Wreath; and the commenting Members of the College of Arms,

Greetings from Marta as tu Mika-Mysliwy, Brickbat Herald and Parhelium Herald for the Kingdom of Atenveldt!

The Atenveldt College of Heralds requests the consideration and registration of the following names and armory with the College of Arms. Please note that this is the second Letter of Intent posted for the Kingdom of Atenveldt in Octoboer 2015.

Unless specifically stated, the client will accept any spelling and grammar corrections; all assistance is appreciated.

1. Atenveldt, Kingdom of: TRANSFER OF HERALDIC TITLE, Golden Orb Herald, to Seamus McDaid

The title Golden Orb Pursuivant was registered to the Kingdom of Atenveldt April 1981. It was necessary to obtain permission from the Crown , TRM Morgan and Elizabeth, to transfer ownership of the title (Administrative Handbook Submissions Regulations II. Registerable Items 5. Heraldic Titles - A heraldic title may be registered to an individual if that individual has been granted the right to such a title by a Kingdom or by the Society. Heraldic titles may be submitted by the individual or may be transferred to the individual with the approval of the owning branch and the kingdom to which it belongs. Appropriate proof of entitlement must be provided (see Section IV.C.4) either for the initial registration of or the acceptance of a heraldic title, whether by transfer or through a heraldic will.) to Seamus McDaid, which has been done. A signed Transfer of Ownership is provided to Laurel.

2. Katerina Rose MacDonald: DEVICE RESUBMISSION from Laurel, August 2015

Per chevron vert and azure, two chevronels between two roses and a unicorn's head couped contourny argent.

The name was registered August 2015.

The previous submission, Per chevron vert and azure, a chevron between two roses and a unicorn's head couped contourny argent.,was returned for conflict with the device of Neill or Daered ar Llyr of Marlincourt: Per chevron vert and azure, a chevron between two castles and a marlin hauriant argent. There is only one DC for changing the type of secondary charges. Changing the name of primary charges used provides the secondary DC.

3. Móivar Vignirson: NEW NAME and DEVICE

Per fess Or and sable, a double-headed eagle sable and a lightning bolt bendwise sinister argent within a roundel rayonny on its outer edge Or.

Ogress suggests that Vígmársson is probably the closest thing we're going to find to his requested byname. Vígmárr is found in the Viking Answer Lady website (http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/ONMensNames.shtml#v).
ffride wlffsdotter notes that Lind col. 1103 sn. Vígnir, only gives a single example, the son of the legendary hero Ǫrvar-Oddr (whose saga was recorded in the 13th century https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96rvar-Oddr). Nonetheless, she gives a hand at constructing a similar name:
<Víglundr> Geirr Bassi p. 16
<Vígsterkr> Geirr Bassi p. 16
and the previously mentioned <Vígmárr>
<Gegnir> Geirr Bassi p. 10
<Leiknir> Geirr Bassi p. 13
<Stefnir> Geirr Bassi p. 15
She notes that the genitive case would be <Vígnis> to form Vígnisson.

As far as the given name is concerned, he wants it to be one pronounced as MOY-var. "Nordic Names" (http://www.nordicnames.de/wiki/Main_Page) gives Mói as a male name, possibly a variant of Móði, or as an Icelandic term for barren or sandy soil; and Ívar, a Faronese and Icelandic form of the male name Ívarr.

The use of a lightning bolt not part of a thunderbolt is a SFPP.

4, Oriande Aethelwulfesdohter: NEW NAME and DEVICE

Per chevron vert and Or, two dragons combattant Or and a wolf sejant forepaw raised sable.

Oriande is cited as an Old French female given name (Withycombe, 3rd edition, p. 234 s.n. Oriana). Oriande/Oriante are frquent in Old French romances, notably the name of the mistress of Amadis de Gaul. Unfortunately, Withycombe isn't that reputable as a source for non-English names, and the only name close to it, Oriane, has been registered just once by the CoA, in 1992. Similar given names in familysearch.org appear in very late period (16th C).
The PASE data base shows many examples of Æthelwulf as a male given name, http://www.pase.ac.uk/pdb?dosp=VIEW_RECORDS&st=PERSON_NAME&value=15&level=1&lbl=%C3%86thelwulf. The suffix forms a patronymic from it. According to Appendix C of SENA , combinations of Old English and French name elements names are permitted, but the temporal span here may be too great.

5. Rose the Jeweler: NEW DEVICE CHANGE

Per bend sinister purpure and vert, a bend sinister wavy between a rose and a dog couchant argent.

If registered, the currently-registered device, Ermine, three trees eradicated within a bordure vert., should be released.

6. Seamus McDaid: ACCEPTANCE OF HERALDIC TITLE, Golden Orb Herald

The client's personal name was registered December 1999, and the honor was bestowed upon him at Estrella War XXXI, 28 February 2015. A signed Acceptance of Ownership is provided to Laurel.

7. Wander Riordan: NEW AUGMENTATION of ARMS

Per fess wavy azure and argent, in dexter chief a triskele argent, and as an augmenation of arms a rose azure in sinister base.

The name and device, Per fess wavy azure and argent, in dexter chief a triskele argent., were registered January 1991. The Augmentation of Arms were presented by TRM Ivan and Ian'ka 2 November 2013.

There are 2 New Names, 3 New Devices, 1 New Device Change and 1 New Augmentation of Arms. These 7 items are chargeable, Laurel should receive $21 for them. These is 1 transfer and 1 acceptance, which are not chargeable. There are a total of 9 items submitted on this letter.

I was assisted in the preparation of this Letter of Intent by Cecily Goshawke, Dorcas Whitecap (Harrier), ffride wlffsdotter, Gawain of Miskbridge (Green Anchor),Giuseppe Francesco da Borgia, Guy Dawkins of Stockley, Maridonna Benvenuti, Seamus mac Riain (Black Boar) and Taran The Wayward.
